A quick note

Short post, because it was too long for a Facebook post.

Have I mentioned lately how amazing my boys are and how lucky I am to be their mother?

This evening I got a text from Chase’s dad. “Chase has a surprise for you.” Followed by the below picture. He drew a heart for his momma and had his dad send me a picture of it.

Just now, I was preparing for bed, when Matt came downstairs. “Good timing, I was just getting ready to go to bed.” I told him. Mind you, I normally text Matt to let him know I’m going to bed, and he always comes downstairs to tell me goodnight. It’s a rule in our house. We always say goodnight, even on the off chance I’m not at home for bedtime.

Matt gave me his custom pat on the shoulder that has taken the place of a hug since he’s a teenager and too cool to hug his mom.

“I was just coming down to check on you!” he said to me.

“Check on me?” I asked.

“Yeah! It’s late. You normally go to bed earlier.”

They let me know they love me every. single. day.

I couldn’t ask for a greater gift than the love of my boys.

Single mother to two amazing boys, sister to an inspiration, and the daughter of two opinionated, sarcastic, fun loving individuals that are no longer physically with us. Music, writing, reading, my family - living and gone - are what keep me going as I put on my rose colored glasses and navigate us through this crazy world.
