Day 12: Blessings

So, let me start by saying, holy hell. . . What a week. Two concerts and some major garage sailing and work and kids and . . . Wow. So yes, I’m like a fucking week behind, and I have some catching up to do.

It sorta brings me to Day 12s topic, though.

Day 12: Write about five blessings in your life

I mean, we’ve covered this basically. You all know the basics of what makes me tick, and that’s the things that I love. So at the risk of being semi-repetitive. . .

First and foremost, no big secret – my children. Sometimes they are a blessing in disguise (haha) but they are definitely on the top of my list. I live and breathe these boys, all of their silly shenanigans and crazy antics, their jokes. I love the deep conversations I’ve been having with Matthew lately about hypothetical situations and conspiracy theories, and I love how much Chase wants to just be near me and asks for ten million hugs a day. . . I can’t stress enough that they’re the reason I was put on this Earth.

I am blessed to be where I physically am. With a roof, with electricity and means to cook should I feel the urge. I can shower any time I want, I have comfy clothes and a comfy bed. . . I’m blessed to be comfortable.

I’m blessed because I have come through this life with a positive attitude. I am not bitter or mean, I am not ungrateful or unkind. My glass is half full and my Rose colored glasses are not faded. I can still see the silver lining, the bright side.

But I know the harder side, where the glass is empty and it’s too dark to see. And for this I am blessed, too. Because I’ve come through it, and in knowing it can appreciate my blessings that much more.

I’m blessed to be alive, and breathing. I’m blessed to be healthy. I’m blessed to have a few true friends and a job I enjoy and hobbies that fullfil me.

Take a moment to count your blessings and be grateful for the blessings in disguise that helped get you where you are today.

Happy Tuesday.

Single mother to two amazing boys, sister to an inspiration, and the daughter of two opinionated, sarcastic, fun loving individuals that are no longer physically with us. Music, writing, reading, my family - living and gone - are what keep me going as I put on my rose colored glasses and navigate us through this crazy world.
